I think I said Zips name by mistake, I would edit it if I could.

But really though, all I want is focus to be brought back to L4D2 and to NOT focus on the issues of the source engine. And by flaming, I meant the series of comments 3 - 2 pages back that say "are you dumb?" and etc about some comments another has made. Even if they say they don't fully understand, it is just kind of rude to the rest of the community to see such responses.

Thanks. Well, it was my mistake for writing such a hateful (and partially groundless) series of comments so let's just move along. Any news on L4D2?

I hear it's going to be released as a new product rather than a DLC package!

Discuss.

Just kidding.

I don't blame Valve for releasing L4D2 as a new product. It's more than a DLC pack. I'd happily pay the same amount I paid for L4D.

And I don't hear gamers complaining about other games that are twice as expensive and offer far less in quality and replayable gameplay.

Agreed, but still... Personally I wasn't expecting such an early release (in fact I wasn't expecting Valve to be planning a sequel at all), and I'd much rather see more content for L4D1 or news about EP3. I'm glad Valve will release L4D2, and I hope it will address some of the problems in the prequel, but I understand why people are pissed.

1. We hold valve to a higher standard than other developers.

2. They promised us more content for left4dead in the future, before release. I hope they don't abandon left4dead and focus primarily on left4dead2 but it sure as hell seems like it because they started work on the sequel days after left4dead was released.

They released Survival along with those maps and the others for versus and they've said they are still going to update L4D.

It wasn't a series of comments, and they were explained.

BUTTTT This'll be my last post on the subject of engines.

Back to l4d, here's a new gameplay video that has almost 6 minutes of unseen gameplay

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDueGY13j3A

All the firearms that I've seen so far have litterally just been remodels of the old ones, but with new sounds. Animations are the same, rate of fire is the same, damage is the same, cone of fire is the same, and so far, and there's been nothing new introduced.

The melee weapons seem strange, I don't really see why they would get used, unless you enjoy taking damage, they have a regular swinging attack, which kills and a quicker melee attack which just knocks back, like with other weapons.

It also looks like you can only hold a single clip of incendiary rounds at a time, but there's no indication as to whether or not it replaces your regular ammo (so that once you're out, you're out) or if they can be toggled back and forth.

You also see a charger attacking a survivor in this video, and it appears that he just disables the person he's attacking, while he's attacking them, much like a hunter or smoker in l4d, as opposed to an enemy that just swipes, like the tank.

Another thing is that zombies appear to be in a greater state of decay, check out how some are bleeding from the eyes, and have parts missing. I heard somewhere that this game takes place 2 weeks after the infections, but I haven't been able to find a source on that, so maybe take it with a grain of salt.

Still upset, new weapons models doesn't make a sequel if the guns are the exact same, but maybe that'll change.

Oh right, and their new and improved gibbing just seems like the old one with better models, and the ability for zombies to carry out the rest of their death animations without turning into a ragdoll. And alot more blood everywhere, all the time.

There are new weapons shown already unless that TMP was just the remodeled Uzi. Also the Charger is like a tank swipe and when you're hit you act like your getting up from being down, so you can't do anything. It's not like the hunter where it's constant until someone knocks him off, you just start getting up slowly after you're knocked down.

well, the TMP is definately just an UZI clone, everything about it is the same, except the sound and model.

and about the charger, look at a 2:25 in the video, that charger is definitely just beating the shit out of that guy by picking him up, and slamming him down.

That's the single attack, but the swing that he does which can knock down more than one person is how I described it earlier. I forgot about that single pick up attack.

The prequel is set two weeks after the original outbreak... It says so first thing in the intro. Perhaps this is two more weeks making a full month after the first infections?

Anyway, this looks like a total clone of the first game to me - only with more lame TF2'ish graphics. Sure, they were awesome for a comic game such as TF (especially with Valve's choice of character style), but for L4D? Nah. Quite frankly, the L4D2 trailer might just have said 'Meet the Sequel'.

I thought the trailer was cartoony too, but the game is not. If you watch any of the gameplay videos it looks the same as L4D in new settings with all the new weapons and infected.

The gun is a MAC10 if my eyes do not lie. And notice that the new sniper rifle holds twice as many rounds as the hunting rifle, and it looks like it's better suited to close combat.

And it's not cartoony, it's just cleaner and more colorful than most Source fare and it's bright outside. Colors don't make something cartoony.

And I'm convinced you don't lose all your ammo just because you switch to incendiary rounds. Basically, it looks like you get one magazine of the stuff and then you're back to using the old stuff.

It began as a DLC campaign, not as a conscious sequel.

Check out the L4D2 Videos at IGN's Video Vault http://media.pc.ign.com/media/143/14352245/vids_1.html

I like the Incendiary Ammo.

i'd blame Chet for the cold welcoming, i'm too lazy to highlight any sources, but it was he who promised all the crap that we didn't get. He was the one that said we would get the sdk and the other 2 missing campaigns before christmas. Now we know why it took so long, and with that surprise announcement, i say fuck you to the l4d team for neglecting your [somewhat] faithful fanbase. I'm glad things are looking good, but they should have sorted their priorities out first.
