When I read this I said:

THANK GOD!

I just hope they fixed the bugs that are in the current sdk, (game_txt doesn't work, point_viewcommand goes crazy when assigned to path_track's, etc...

I don't think that is the SDK, but the game itself. I'm guessing that they never bothered making sure that they worked properly, seeing as they never used them in L4D.

A few extra sales? Get off the crack. Valve is Counter Strike, it's one of the single most popular FPS games in history, and dod was no slouch either. Without the mods they would be nowhere, CS made them rich.

Granted. But without the mods it would be some obscure dated FPS that would be a distant memory. Gabe would be serving grande lattes and stealing biscotti at Starbucks.

Mods > HL.

Games and mods are a symbiotic relationship. Mods support the game. The game supports the mods. They both win.

So Valve making two of the best rated, most awarded, and best-selling games in history has nothing to do with their success?

That almost goes against what "Valve" is "known" for. I'm using quotations so much cause I don't really "know" what their "gameplan" is anymore.

Gabe was visually distressed by the idea of a L4D2 - yet let...Chet? (we'll call him cocksucker for the night, CS). CS, somehow convinced Gabe to go against everything that Valve stood for by releasing L4D2 in such short time. Gabe showed signs of distress towards Chet's ideas.

Yet for some reason fatty let the proposal go through.

Really - I don't know what Gabe was thinking at the time. He's a genius and should be treated as one.

/on-the-phone - doing nothing but talking to an old-flame, sorry for not finishing this.

de-derailing the topic back to the released SDK..
details are still no show. wondering if we're supposed to add ourselves something that game is using in default? ///...

From what I heard, Gabe knew it was out of Valve's character, but the team wanted to go forth with the plan. They had a ton of new ideas that they wanted to use, so Gabe let them.

I'm going to be pro-L4D2 until I actually play the game. If it's an awesome game, I'll be glad I bought it. If it isn't, then I'll begin to wonder what happened at Valve. If L4D2 nears its release date and it is horrible, I'm sure Gabe will extend the release date for more development.
