Valve has actually said that there's more story throughout it. The campaigns are linked together much more clearly and the characters evolve and change how they interact with each other throughout the campaigns. Say at the beginning in the first campaign (I think it's The Parish) they are sort of hostile to each other because they just met and only care about getting to the chopper. It seems that they find out they wont get rescued by chopper though and they have to work together. By the last campaign they'll have a much stronger relationship that will show in the dialogue.

That sounds cool.
I guess a lot of the cut scenes I want to see are ones that would tell the story of the nation and this epidemic, it would kind of force the story into a third person omniscient narrative. I can tell they're trying to deliver the experience in the first person, as we know this is valve's forte since half life. So basically, in l4d you know what you saw, and thats it.

Parish is last? I would have expected it to be first since they showed it first and if I was in a zombie outbreak a closed in city where thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of people live would be the last place I'd want to be.
