I has a Gibus! A Gastly Gibus! Awesome update, I can't belive VALVe picked that crappy harvest map. It's like one of the oldest tf2 maps ever...

Harvest has been out for around a year as an Arena map. It was only recently that it was turned into a KoTH map.

Yeah, I've gotten some major performance problems on that map. On the first server I joined it was smooth as butter, and then my framerate dropped to 20...

It's some weird bug. My FPS was 120 until I joined a different server with the same map and it dipped all the way down to 30.

I haven't played the regular harvest map (the non-event one), so I can't say if it's just the event map. But nonetheless, the map becomes unplayable for me when it does it.

No lag issues on my end. Maybe it's because my computer isn't from 2004.

Harvest is a mixed bag for me. I like the guys work, but harvest compared to his earlier Egypt isn't as good layout wise imo. But I think people are being a little but hurt here about valve picking others maps. =P The map is fine for an arena map. Maybe it can use a few optimization changes, but I haven't had any issues personally with the performance.

I like the map, I think it's good in that you can get onto the roofs etc, making it a fairly good zippy scout map but more importantly good for soldiers and demomen as you can get the heavier stuff up there. Means that the pyros don't dominate the map.
I'd say it's not so great for snipers - many of the areas a sniper can use are quite exposed so you have to be on the ball. Also while it is a good scout map the openess means that you have a fair chance of seeing them before they get to you.

I don't even map for TF2 so I honestly don't care what maps get chosen, as long as they're worth it. It's not that Harvest is a bad map; I just don't really like KOTH or Arena. I like Sawmill though...in fact that's the only CTF map I like other than Turbine.

My PC has a GTS 250, 3gb of RAM, and a 2.13ghz Core2Duo, I should be able to run this map perfectly, but for no reason at all it decides to lag ass. I've been in bigger maps with more characters on the screen at once and I don't even dip below 30 frames, but for some reason I go to like 10fps randomly in certain spots when I'm rendering barely any players. Some games didn't do it to me, but every now and then it would act up.

When I get 100-120 fps for multiple rounds on the map, then disconnect, then join the same server and get a persistent 20-30fps throughought multiple lives before restarting TF2 in disgust, odds are it's a bug.

Hell, perhaps it's related to TF2's recent problems with custom particles in maps affecting the next map load.

My computer is quite modern. My FPS drops from 150+ to 30 - 40 when the bug happens. >_>
