PlanetPhillip Mapping Competition

Postby Blink on Wed Dec 02, 2009 12:07 am

Over at PlanetPhillip you'll find a mapping competition that is a bit different to the normal 'make a deathmatch' scenario that we're used to:

The winning map will be the one that creates an interesting scenario using at least one and a maximum of 3 snipers. I am looking for something that requires the player to think carefully about their surroundings and forces them to use those surroundings and resources to reach a particular objective.

Killing the sniper does not have to be the ultimate objective of the map, just reaching a clearly defined point is enough.
Using custom textures, models and sounds won’t necessarily ensure your map receives more attention, it’s more about the layout and use of assets than anything else.

There are more rules and guidelines available and even some prize money for the winning entrant!

what's with all the prizes being given away the the mod community all of a sudden? Srred's mapping competition just started, the current model battle has prizes, and now this?

This is awesome.

I guess the map battle I planned needs to be postponed, too much other stuff going on.

904, that would be great. Between mod work, a hired project, the map battle, srred's contest, and this planet phillip thing I was struggling with how I'd make time for everything.

Maybe everybody needs to get together and organize a competition schedule, so we don't overlap. :)

holy mackerel, your stuff looks pretty awesome. You already have skybox elements and stuff...I'm gonna have to work faster to get this thing prettied up at the end.
