Here's a thread containing the constantly evolving information on this update.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169027

EDIT: I am obviously behind the curve ball on this, having just gotten home from work. But it looks like hidden in the images are up to four digits, either number or letter. In addition, emphasis is placed on this pattern: (xxx) xxx-xxxx. One of them shows this pattern again and again, with X's in the number. Also present is the xx/32 in the bottom right of each quadrant of some images. So we need to organize these digits and figure out a code...this is incredibly awesome.

In addition to anything you can decipher through audio, it appears that several of the radio transmissions are actually images that were transformed into audio. Here are the four images that have been decoded so far:

Image
Aperture Science logo, an equation that says B*dA=3, snapshots of keyboard number pad keys six, eight, and zero.

Equation... B times the derivative http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derivative of A equals 3.

See this page for more info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauss%27s_law_for_magnetism It may just be reference to the name Borealis originating from the Aurora Borealis effect. It may be junk. Just saying.

Image
Aperture Science logo, a close-up on a sheet of paper with Aperture Laboratories, and "BBS: (xxx) xxx-xxxx"

Image
Aperture Science logo, four snapshots: first says "C" and "09/32", next says "8" and "10/32", next says "C" and "11/32", and last says "2" and "12/32"

Image
Aperture Science logo, and gibberish...perhaps "1" if you look at it from a distance

I think hiding pictures in an audio format is an amazing thing lol

wait... xx/32 could refer to camera numbers, seeing as all have a different image...
how many cameras were in Portal? I think the achievement required around 30

I agree! There are sooo many ways to hide things from people

hehe, all three of us posted those images :p

Hiding files into images is also quite common and cool. :)

They think THIS can compete with Megaman 10?

In all seriousness though, pretty cool. I don't want to decode, but I want to see what it means in the end.

Also, this is also likely an episode 3 announcement, since the Borealis is connected to apature science. Likely Portal 2 and Episode 3 confirmation, plus maybe an RPG project that has been in the works for a while now (or L4D3). Very intriguing.

it seems like the code deciphered from all the images creates a hexadecimal code.

it also seems that the hexadecimal code should be entered into http://www.aperturescience.com at the very end of the questionnaire.

Now all we need to do is scrutinize every pixel to find the missing digits :D

and this in another

WHAT COULD THIS MEAN??

can any of you figure it out?? ;)

Older, but maybe also interesting;

More info about the website;
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki ... cience.com

Also worth posting maybe the original portal login/Identification Code.

I just unlocked the achievement.

It gives you a TF2 hat...the Aperture Science Aerodynamic Combat-Enhanced Cupcake-Scented Party Hat.
