Famke Jannsen. I think she might have been an inspiration for this new Chell.

I still don't understand why she would look different from Portal 1. Maybe she is just a clone?

Some people have gone back to that "She's an android" theory and believe they switched her brain over to a new body. I don't believe that for a second and really really prefer the old orange jump suit because it has:

1. Colour
2. Looks appealing but not too fashionable like Valve are trying to avoid
3. Immediately makes me think she's a prisoner

Therefore they should take the orange concept and develop it so she is still a prisoner but is also not a prisoner to show how she has broken free from the tests but she also has not.

Am I the only one that read that with GLaDOS' voice?

That's why they changed it. They say in GameInformer's podcast that they changed it because she is supposed to be a test subject not a prisoner or a janitor.

Well she isn't exactly allowed to leave, for me that's pretty much a prisoner.

Prisoners are usually being punished or being held against their will. We've had no information saying she's being held against her will and we're fairly sure that she's not being punished.

Then they should make her look like a test dummy with yellow and black square things and a dummy head.

Whoaaaaah whoah whoah. Hold up.

You are stuck in an abadoned and decaying underground facility at the whim of an inarguably homicidal AI being who puts you through lethal "tests" and lies a lot about what will or will not kill you. During this process there are repeated references to some real nasty stuff (like if you get tired they will stab you full of adrenaline) and you find remnants of other people who apparently were also unable to leave, had difficulty finding basic necessities like food, and were driven mad. After the AI tries to deliberately (as opposed to incidentally) kill you by dumping you inside a furnace, you fight you way through turrets firing bullets and rockets. It tries to kill you again with neurotoxin, and after you finally manage to reach daylight you are dragged back in by some other automaton.

And the next time you wake up, of course, you won't be being "held against your will" because you'll have made so many friends?

The above conversation shows how Valve's story telling methods do not work as well as they pretend they do.

anyone else feel a little annoyed by the whole Portal 2 hub? I mean, everyone was hoping for something good on the last day, maybe a teaser, or a screenshot, or something a little juicier than cake. If they're not going to get us on April fools with an extra tidbit of info, than this whole Portal 2 hub was a waste of time.

I am not disappointed. Big spoilers would suck, and the cake recipe is actually useful because I will make that cake during the summer.

and it eat all by myself.

Yeah it's a shame but that tour of the office is awesome.

Valve is seriously an amazing company that cares about their employee's well being. Some of the stuff we couldn't show you due to time restraints were things like private, sound-proof booths for staffers to make personal calls (since there is little privacy in the cabals to encourage idea swapping) and showers on site since many people like biking to work. Also, when we were there the first time the entire company was getting ready to leave for a trip to Hawaii. You can tell that there is a lot of dedication and loyalty to the company, and in turn, respect.

That sounds awesome. I wanna go to Hawaii damnit :D And Gabe likes knives, well I like swords.
