I like how the dynamic lighting is coming along :) It looks so much better than Ep2, at least from what I've seen so far

All I see is another game I'll never get to play, anything made after 2001 beats the poop out of my comp :/

Btw this looks fantastic for a game that still has a year of dev to go

I hope it's explained how the old Vital Apparatus Vents were replaced with these big-ass pneumatic tubes

the vents are destroyed...so one must assume they are a replacement...but you know what they say...

Well there's an explanation for ANYTHING being replaced, seeing as once GLaDOS is woken up she begins rebuilding AP science completely, replacing tiles, tubes and whatnot. Also, this could be a sign of how Portal should have looked like, had it been a larger team working on it.

Also, the apparatus vents were pneumatic tubes. Ya dingus.

I think them being replacements for broken ones makes sense as there is one that still looks like the old ones in the trailer.

Am I the only one that feels creeps on my back when GLaDOS says "...You monster." in the trailer ?

Beside that, it looks awesome, can't wait to see more gameplay oriented trailers instead of focusing on eye candy things (I will leave the fact of lack of AA).

The reason for dynamic lighting was all the models there're using, as models have improper lighting in Source. Plus it's dynamic like the levels, as before all lighting was precomputed and static.

the required system specs will drastically rise, unless they perform deep optimizing of env_projectedtexture. Also, I hope they make the resolution of the shadows smaller...

You can likely turn it off, plus, most video cards can handle a few shadow-mapped lights...

I hope it's variable. Like 512, 1024, 2048, 4096.

You must be really mad at episode two. The vortigaunts went from scaley to shiny and smooth.

They upgraded the art style, that doesnt need an explaination.

we use projected texture shadows a fair bit in City 17 and the effect is quite scalable through code. The fact that Portal 2 is based in fairly small indoor area makes it ideal to rely more on this shadow mapping and i don't think that most computers will have a problem with this.
