I can see it now...

Six months from now...

Press Release wrote:Valve, creators of such fine franchises as Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, and Team Fortress, are announcing Alien Swarm 2: The Revenge, which is a direct sequel to their freeware game Alien Swarm. The game will continue the lively gameplay and succor or the original, but will include all-new maps, mechanics, and Source engine improvments. It will cost US $60.00 and Valve has pledged to impose VAC bans on the members or founders of boycott groups that may arise.

I want these dynamic light improvements and other post processing effects and third person camera really badly, but how will it work? Is it a new sdk tool or just an update of source sdk to be compatible with it? I also want to know if there would be an easy way to patch the new effects into mods after the release of the game? I guess I just have to wait and see.

Apparently there'll be "SDK updates".

Problem is, is that for the game SDK or the SDK as a whole? Is it optional? Will it be an engine update across the board for Ep2 and so on?

I think not, which makes me sad face.

Nonetheless I think these features and source code of this game will come in handy for many mod teams.

Nice! Good news for modders all around.
As for as the game goes, I'm pretty pumped...I remember having quite a bit of co-op fun on the original with friends.

Wasn't there a recent update that added a bunch of support for prefabs and "instances" in Hammer?

Wha...guh...

Phong on world brushes = one step closer to perfecting the Mirrors Edge art style in Source.
