Wait wait wait wait. Where was it said that the original survivors would be playable in L4D2? I don't want to get my hopes up....

In the interview, broseph. Look it up on youtube, Chet says they're carrying over the original survivors to l4d2, and later in it you see francis with a l4d2 military sniper rifle.

Still good news though, I do like the original survivors more.

Well the irony is, now that it's basically coming down to "L4D1 + expansion pack" is the time that the old movement has some actual substance to it rather than just rage over Valve making a new L4D game.

really man, l4d2 has been on sale so many times.. people shouldn't complain it's a glorified expansion pack
sure l4d2 wasn't valves best game ever.. but people act like they should burn in hell for it
kinda ridiculous if you ask me

Well, You have to ask Valve why they released 2 games.

I am just waiting for the new DLC to play L4D1 again. but now it will be include in L4D2, so I will just play the L4D2 version.

I don't know what to say when I read this. I personally haven't gotten the first L4D. I really enjoyed L4D2 tbh. Now that they bring the L4D1 survivors to L4D2 I'm kind of excited. I totally understand the viewpoints of the people that got L4D1.

I really enjoyed the L4D2 survivors, and the maps where amazing. The storm effect was intense which makes me want to replay it. I was let down by the passing. I don't know what it was exactly, but it didn't feel like they really put a lot of effort into it.

Anyway, I hope this dlc will be epic. I hope the L4D 1 players will find it enjoyable, and I hope I'll enjoy it myself on L4D2.

It's not that I am angry at valve for publishing 2 games too soon, it's quite the contrary. I am pissed off at the gaming community for being so hypocritical.

If a game like Starcraft 2 decides to have 3 games to have a trilogy style campaign set up, one game for each race with 30 missions (which is the same as vanilla starcrafts campaign mission #, if I recall correctly), everyone acts as if it's a money train before they even announce the price or ANY details about the upcoming expansions / new games. If Street Fighter 4 republishes itself as Super Street Fighter 4 to further retweak the game, adds 10 new characters and 4 new stages and a whole set of alternate costumes, it's too much to spend 40 dollars. If CODMW2 adds 5 maps, it isn't even worth 15 dollars.

But if Valve makes 5 campaigns, suddenly it's ok because "Valve's the greatest guys!"

I don't mind L4D2, I don't mind Valve, what I mind is the lemmings attitude the gaming community has for these game production companies. In the end of the day, valves "free updates" are no different than Blizzards free updates or even any other companies free OR PAID FOR updates. In fact, valve's free updates aren't even necessarily "free" when you take into consideration how releasing an update to a game not only raises sales but expands your fanbase who will definitely purchase your next game regardless of how too soon or how rediculous it really is.

All I ask is that people hold valve or other companies up to the same standards as you would for any other company, rather than having this rather blatant double standards!

I'll just admit to wasting $70 for both games (I got L4D2 for $20) and move on...

I mean, I've been in this situation before. I bought Quake Wars...

hmm I spend like 300+ hours on l4d1, and like 300+ hours on l4d2
seems like a good deal to me, but I guess if you don't like the game it's a different story

also yokai, I wasn't talking about you.. really man you should check out the steam forums sometimes.. pathetic
some people are still but hurt over l4d1, and now they are but hurt that l4d2 is getting the same dlc..

I honestly think that Valve thought adding melee weapons and the new special infected to the first game (L4D1) would have changed, and I quote the forumites on the Steampowered forums, "the atmosphere" that is somehow superior to the second (L4D2).

The forumites who hail L4D1 and martyr themselves on the forum bash the heck out of L4D2 saying it's catered to n00bz while L4D1 maintains unmatched difficulty.

Those are my thoughts. The spitter would utterly destroy the L4D1 procedures... I'm sooooo looking forward to that on No Mercy 3 (after you activate the lift next to the asploding gas station)!
