I am still crawling through this mod. It has been my most anticipated mod thus far, as I am a huge fan of horror, so I am savoring this. I am playing this in the dark with my ear buds, so I get to hear every little sound and occurrence with high clarity. It is so good.

The mod is nearly perfect, that is all I can say. I remember that Hen asked us what we wanted in NH2 a long time ago, and we all poured our answers and suggestions into the thread. Well he has taken everything - EVERYTHING I think - and crammed it into this mod. In addition, the auto-scare system is top notch and the mod makes me feel truly vulnerable at times. Some of the details are just magnificent IMO, but I'm a sucker for horror.

My only technical gripe at this time is that a few prop_physics could have been set to be debris (such as doors off the hinges) and they were not, so I was tripping on them and it was annoying. As far as the level design...sure it may be a bit generic at times, but I think the generic hallways and set pieces really add a layer of "surreal" to the whole thing. I am simply loving this mod.

I'm guessing another one was the 'psst' sound, I got so freaked out the first time I heard that I almost fell out of my chair.

Hehe. Found one of the (many) Easter Eggs.

Highlight to read:
At the end of the corridor with the 'shadow people', you can find a boiler room, with a switch hidden by pallets. Keep toggling the switch ;)

This. Be a bit more respectful arma, ruining someone's anticipation/excitement by spoiling events is always a dickish move.

just played from start to end and i love it :) :smt023

Pro's for me :

Great use of stock content .
Really well done maps and costume content .
Some scary scenes that made me jump a few feet of my chair.
Reminded me of F.E.A.R but not as a "ripoff" so to say.

Con :

The prologue was a bit repetitive in the way of shocking you.

I was just happy that I wasn't falling through the floor every five minutes in NH2.
Highlight to read:
And your chef caught me pants down as I went for the door and went oh boy why isn't it opening. Your flashlight flickering also made me very jumpy because it would go out when I was fighting stuff mainly. And damn was I very very cautious around bodies through the entire game.

One problem I found was that whenever you tried to shoot the head of a zombie it went right through him, kinda bugged me since I always shoot the head... :?

Hollow wrote:BUTTT it was very fun to play, well executed and clearly alot of effort was put into it. Never once got frustrated. The mannequin bit did indeed creep me out (I believe that was inspired by Condemned?) and the rooms in the dark that got smaller and smaller each time you navigated them...made me jump a few times, so well done!
h

Unfortunately after seeing clips of that scene in condemmed, the various bloody ceiling and specter things in fear and tests in the "what makes games scary" thread that had stuff like corridors shrinking or the floor falling away most of the scares really didn't get me. There were a few times things made me jumped bust most of the time it was too bloody obvious.

this_is_not_an_easter_egg.bsp makes up for it though. makes up for it so hard.

Also the invincible corpses are cheap, after I got the axe and laughed at the blood splashing out I noticed he was wearing marigolds so I called him a pansy and hit him a few times... but he still got up later :(
