Steam News - Assault is on the way

It seems Valve are re-making my favourite map at last, cs_assault is on the way:

"We're happy that the recently released Counter-Strike: Source maps de_inferno and de_port have been so well received, and along those lines it's time to start talking about what's coming next. This week, we have a couple of screenshots from the remake of the classic Counter-Strike map cs_assault, which is now set in downtown Chicago."

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why people love cs_assault so much.

The old assualt was awesome. This new one though doesn't look at all like the old assault. This is why I hope Valve never remakes de_torn. I can't imagine how they would butcher it. Valve did do a great job remaking office and dust 2, chataeu, and cobble.

Imo, Source is a whole different game than 1.6, and I like the way there remaking the maps.

Nice animation Shifty155! Anyway, changeing the old CS maps doesn't matter for the people, like me, who havent played the origional CS. It will be a whole new expearance for them. I say Rock On and please keep making these maps Valve!

Unfotunately, I don't play CS:C that often, as I'd mostly prefer a new Sinlge Player experance. We'd love to see Half Life 2: Aftermath and Half Life Three! But in the mean time Valve (and the gaming community) should try to make a few SP maps, even if they are completely unrelated to the Half Life story. If not, than I encourage people, as well as myself, to do their best to make awsome, enjoyable SP maps for up spaholics out there.

As for the mods, I, like every one else, just cant wait for some good ones to come out. Problem is they are taking wayyy to long! I know, these things take time, but people are getting bored with playing Half Life 2 over again to keep themselves sane until some mods come out. Even if the only skills people have is just for a simple project like a sp map, I encourage them to give it a try.

Better than another dust re-make.

Look on any CS 1.6 map stats page, I'll bet the T vs CT wins will be very close. If the teams are fair the game will be fair. Anyways, it would be nice to see a new CS map that isn't just like every other map they have.

I feel that cs_maps are what counter strike should be, de maps are great but they all turn out to be dust type layout with new textures. Cs maps have always been unique and very fun.

Fuck that, they need to modify it. Although I liked to assault I found it very difficult to enjoy the original. Far far to small

I always liked assault2k, though it never get to be very big and some how was less popular than assault_UPC and the like.

Where did they talk about changes? I only read that they were going to remake it.

i liked assault. it was a very unballanced map imo but almost all hostage maps were unbalanced. but i really played it alot and there is nothing better then sitting in the vents with an AWP and wait until they come
