Postby Blink on Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:52 am

A couple of videos for those still interested in Counter-Strike: Global Offensives progress. A gameplay from Dust and a short map comparison video:

It's starting to get globally offensive with those hideous first-person animations for guns. Animations overall lack quite alot in this CS:GO. Though, it's all videos for now, so when open-beta launches, things might be different..

This
EDIT:

Any how, CS:GO looks pretty much like CSS with better graphics. If you like CSS you'll probably like this game from guesstimation. Looks worth a play or two. Atleast it shows valve is doing something..

I love how they used "graphic comparison" like there was any notable technical advance between Source 2009 and L4D2/Swarm engine. This is ridiculous.

You could backport the models and maps to CS:S and it'd look exactly the same.

I'm looking forward to this, but i really hope someone makes better animations. The current animations are absolutely horrendous in my opinion.

Well it looks like they didn't remove duck-jump like they did with Portal 2 so that's good, but this animations, they suck so much. I'm guessing they ruined CSS just so people will buy this.

gettin kind of sick of the center of the screen= static crosshairs with source. Would like to see some iron sights by now.

Why should there be iron sights?
Don't say because it would be more realistic, because Valve is not trying to make a realistic game.

Looking forward to this already downloaded the closed beta and from just de_dust2 alone it looks great, but saying that I agree with most people above me ^^ the animations are terrible and the arm textures look really undetailed, not sure about anyone else but the pistols feel a bit like toy guns.

As for the maps from looking through the source files there is a lot of .raw colour correction used. Lastly I found a "missioncycle.txt" which has airport
Code: Select all
farm
hospital
smalltown

I'm guessing they might make something like counter-strike condition zero in the future.

That's ripped straight from L4D, as are a lot of the files.

What's wrong with the colors and the hand model(s)? The left hand looks really odd (how far the fingers are away from each other from the knuckle on the hand), you can see it somewhere in the middle. The weapons seem to lack detailed textures, the colors look odd and the map itself looks just weird? Like they put CoD models in L4D2. Also those animations, what.. . I'm not a huge fan of the gun sounds either.. The animations get so much in your screen? No iron sight.. It feels like a downgrade..

Curious how it will play, I'm kinda looking forward to the 5 vs. 5 though, since it sometimes might take ages for the last two players to fight each other on 12 vs. 12 maps in CS:S when you die early due to an AWP snipe or just an unlucky encounter.
