I just want them to say whether or not they're working on Half Life 3. I'm pretty sure they are, but I just want to hear it from them. That's it.

I don't mod for Source anymore so the messed up SDK no longer bothers me.

Left 4 Dead hasn't had an update since Oct. 2010, and that one broke the Authoring Tools. It seems like L4D2 and maybe Portal 2 are the only games on their minds. Except for making hats, of course.

You're 'only' forgetting their 2 new 2012 games they're working on, CS:GO and DOTA2.

customers of product A have to wait for support because they're busy with product B
and when product B is finished, they will continue with product C

this is not how it should work D.

"have to wait for support" ? Is the game broken? nope

They don't have to support anything.

The game? No. The Authoring Tool is broken. The model viewer is unusable. This has killed any further mods for L4D. This is apparently what they wanted all along.

Why would you play L4D instead of L4D2 anyway? There's roughly 1500 users at peak playing L4D while there is 20 000 playing L4D2. Not to mention they ported everything to L4D2. Oh and L4D2 goes on sale really often and sell for 4,99$

Yeah, there is no reason at all to do campaigns and mods for L4D, Valve made sure of that. The entire first game is just ported over.

It almost feels like they have a realllllllllly slow communication rollout going on right now.
Or maybe that's just what I want it to be. "ARG" clues? Maybe no ARG, but maybe THEY are the ones "trolling."

'Ya. I prefer to believe that.

Also, never heard of the metallic trumpet noises around the world before their thread.

You're probably better off anyway, it's just covered in religious bullshit and conspiracies.

Metallic trumpet noises? I have to admit that this is also my first time hearing of this. People are hearing it in the REAL world, or in one of Valve's game worlds? If it's the real world...then I have nothing more to say other than "wtf."

Supposedly in the real world, yes. Just check it out on youtube if you're curious, but a lot of them have been confirmed fakes.

It's not fake but it has absolutely nothing to do with valve or half life, even though it looks a lot like City 17. It was like a lot of air being forced out of large tunnels due to some accident or something. Sounds pretty awesome.

Well this was the "original" one that got a lot of attention first, later a lot of other clips just copied the sound over.

1. Valve is right in not talking about upcoming releases before they're in beta. Just looking at how swamped they got back in 2003-2004 before HL2 with fanmail and forums will give you a great example on how things should NOT work.
2. Valve is a different type of company in the sense of the way they work and how they do things. Anyone who saw/read an interview with a Valve employee would know that; They do what they want and when they want to do it. This is how they keep it fresh and real and this is probably why their games kick so much ass. period.
3. I love seeing how some people go nuts over Valve Time and their releases and that crap, and then...the release comes and everyone just plays the damn game like the good fans they are and praise Valve...again. And then, as time goes by ...it all starts all over again: "Oh Valve you bastards. You promised us nom nom and we wants it now! Awwww!"
Get a life. Valve's still there. They make sick games. This is not going to stop. relax.

lol valar, you missed the point
nobody is saying Valve time is a bad thing
the one time they didn't apply Valve time the result was a pretty unpolished game.. so don't curse Valve time

also, stop being a mindless fanboy.. Valve is a company and eventually what it comes down to is that they make games for money.. not for the holy spirit for a chance at a spot in heaven

Oh wow yeah that screams City 17, and that sound reminds me of the citadel alarm. What a crazy coincidence.

They don't want to see the game, nor hear much about it. All they want is a confirmation.. "Yes we are working on the next Half-Life." You think getting a lot of attention and mail about a POTENTIAL game is better? Surely they still get tons of mail about this because there hasn't been any official word on it. Nobody is being a fanboy here or whining particularly much. What they are asking for is CONFIRMATION.
