How do I know if I get an invite? I logged in and it was like, "OKAY WE SEE YOU'RE INTERESTED". Do I get an email?

When invited a window popup from steam on the computer will show up announcing you've been invited, it should also give you a giftable invite that you can give out.

If anything just try logging in every day, if you get invited it will clear and allow you to log into your account within the app.

Why is the GUI higher res in Garry's picture than in Plagues?

Different devices, Gary has an iPhone which has a slightly larger resolution and higher ppi.

Also, my picture is straight from the phone. A 355KB, 640 by 960 PNG. Since it's PNG, there is no losses in the compression stage.

so yeah, I guess there is a bigger master plan behind this for the future.. because I can't see how this is really handy atm.. aside from chatting with people from steam

maybe there will be mobile games available soon, and I remember something about movies a really long while ago ^^

I have already predicted mobile apps will come next along with this steam mobile. It'd be funny if they sold out apple for apps :P

yea I couldn't link the png it took, but the UI elements on the android app do appear to be low res, probably means Valve took the low end route rather than having to deal with the larger res screens like mine.

It should be noted that Market rules don't allow an App Store to be put up, so if a mobile steam store is produced it will have to be loaded manually. (Think Amazon App store)

But yea, this is one step in the direction of pushing a Steam distribution based around the mobile marketplace.

Now we just need mobile games running on a modified Source engine and we can all make a little bit of money by selling cheap games!

Seeing the new dual and quad core phones, I don't see why a version of Source can't be ported. I could see a DX8-looking HL2 running on a phone. Force lower LODs and such.

Controls would be a different story.


Also, I don't see Steam trying to launch mobile games through an APP. I can see them allowing you to buy PC/OSX games, but it wouldn't download them, just add them to your account.
