yea i agree on the warped proportions bit. 700m IRL is actually not very far away but in BF3 it is nearly the entire map's distance. I can only hope that BF4: The Revenge fixes all that.

Bullshit. I could fill my map with crap and lower the lightmap scale on everything to 1, and use the -final setting on vrad, and it could generate a 100 mb map, but it would still be utter shit.

I'm not saying it directly effects the quality. What I meant to say was he has a lot of high quality textures embedded in his map, meaning he's using them in his map, meaning his map looks really nice. Lightmaps do have a significant effect on the look of a map though, and since they directly affect the BSP filesize, there's at least some correlation there, right?

But like Sathor said, it was just a joke. :-D

I'm a bit iffy on this one. I don't like that they reused the big machinery/catwalk interior from L4D2, but they have made enough alteration to make this a pretty good arsenal map.

The new shadows look shiny, particularly in those last few pics.

They've also made some pretty good changes as well, like first shot accuracy etc.

P.s. You can "impulse 200 ; cl_drawhud 0" for screenshots.

de_stmarc is my favourite Demolition map at the moment. Really good fun.

Also, me and urby decided to experiment a bit on a private server:

I feel like they are trying to make the smaller arena type maps from COD:MW2's multiplayer. It doesn't seem right for CSS at all, CSS is about strategy and taking a bit of time to do things. Plus you can't run which is really the only way you can evade dying in MW2's multiplayer.

Zero cover here, it also just looks bland and open, the 3D skybox in all maps need to be reworked, the bank map especially. I was hoping the bank would be in a big city like the distant one in cs_assault. Meh. Sugarcane looks great.

Valve's just giving official support now and most of Valve's GunGame maps are a lot better than the community maps.

Oh, I didn't know arsenal was gungame. Still, gungame maps that I've played are very tight spaces, and it works well, this seems to be a lot more open.

I definitely agree that they need more close quarters arsenal maps. Some of the best times I've had in GunGame were in maps like Deagle7k.

Deagle7k got boring after a few rounds for me. More than likely because it's literally a giant warehouse full of crates. A map that acts as a rendition of Deagle7k, but with a more realistic/believable setting, wouldn't be a bad move though. unforunately it could be considerably difficult to do this since Deagle7k's pathways are made up entirely of crates (aside from the random catwalk structure in the middle).

I think Arsenal mode works well in my opinion. I think I have more fun with that than the usual casual/competitive modes.

I've had a lot of fun on some of the smaller maps, especially de_bank, that place is a lot of fun to play on. They've done a good job making it into an official gamemode I M O.
