Personally I see it as a sign of not supporting the modding community. Its all about hats and "auto" generated maps.

I think this will have advantages and disadvantages. It will allow players to easily to create they're own maps without spending ages trying to work out how sdk works. Equally us sdk users might end up outdone and our years messing around with sdk might be made redundant. Another possible outcome is that this new tool will be easy to use... but will not allow certain features from sdk to be used. This would leave sdk users looking like level-making gods, he he he.

I doubt they will be able to make a trigger/lever out of pure brushes. We can probably start feeling superior right about now.

Your likely be very limited in lighting, scripting, brushwork and everything else. The best maps will be made in Hammer. While similar, cookie-cutter looking ones will be made in this.

That sounds to be about right. I am just wondering what a well developed, and in-depth version of this new program would look like. I swear if they took the solid things from Hammer and just moved it over couldn't they just create a new replacement?

It's really impressive IMO, for a Source game it's not something you would expect.

edit: not that you wouldn't expect something impressive from a Source game, but this in particular is not something you would expect :P
