HDR Article

Postby Blink on Tue Jun 14, 2005 12:35 pm

Bit-Tech have posted a very sweet article and it's worth a read. It goes into some depth explaining HDR and what it will mean for HL2:

"HDR facilitates the use of colour values way outside the normal range in an effort to produce a more realistic rendering of a typical 3D scene. If you have ever driven through a dark tunnel in your car, and then emerged out the other side into blazing sunshine, temporarily blinded by the difference in light levels - that oversaturation is one example of what is possible with HDR"

Give it a read right here.

Good find. It does look rather spiffy.

HDR has some good aspects such as the one you described but with the rumors that it's going cause a crap load of lag on computers like mine. I'd rather just not have it.

It sounds great, but I don't think my computer could handle it either.
