I personally think Steam is the way to go in terms of distribution, what with no production packaging costs to the developer, it virtually cuts out the need for a publisher. Not only that but you can get the game the second it comes out, and imagine the trees we save without these manuals.

Not only that, but it will also get publishers pushing developers for a release date, meaning developers using steam can take their time and not rush a game allowing them to get in a nice polish before it goes gold.
