CST Update

Postby Blink on Sat Jul 30, 2005 11:55 am

There has been a small update for the Custom Source Tools:

"As a reward I have optimised CST 1.0 Final. The code runs about 2% faster over all. I have also added a small plane count increase for the Dystopia Team, and there issues with the v tools, on dys_vaccine."

I highly recommend these tools, get them here.

So, what exactly does this do? There's not much about it on their site except compile time comparisons for hl1.

Yea, WTF are these things for? There's no fuc***g point of a custom compile tool because hammer has one! :? I just don't see the point to all this.

Compiles my maps way faster than the source compile tools and it has the interlopers error page in it :D

So it's only a custom compile tool? Like I said, pointless. I'm scared shitless using custom tools becuse I don't trust them, they could screw up the map! And they're not made by a company PAID to make games, those are who I trust. 8)

Allright, you've convinced me! :D I'll give it a try, since my maps are so full of errors that need diagnosing!

You can always switch back to the valve ones, they don't overwrite them.

I only use custom compile tools for HL1, i dont see the need to use them for hl2.

the reason its the same. Theres always space to improve stuff, and even tough Valve did a good job with the compile tools, amckern puched them further and made them more eficient. Even a 2% reduction on compile times makes ithe diference on big maps.

there is a alot that has changed, such as better looking lights (on hard default texture lights) - much better vis (now 12 % faster) - better error finding, and the first real thing that benifits all, is a plane increase

Sorry i did not post before, but i sent the news email to about 70 news sites (way to much to catch up on)

Quality. Excellent job. I put them on my hammer yesterday and noted my main WIP went for 25mins at normal from a full compile to just over 20mins...
