Calling all mappers. The developers of Dodgeball for the source engine would like to announce a map contest for the upcoming Alpha 5 release. This contest will run from Today (August 25th) through next Friday the 2nd of September. That gives you 7 days to come up with the most original, fun to play Dodgeball court imagineable. There are no restrictions as to the type of court that needs to be created. Have an insane idea thats out of the ordinary? We want to see it!

The only technical detail that you need to be aware of is that the dodgeball.fgd must be installed in Hammer in order to make dodgeball maps. This will give you access to the dodgeball entities (item_dodgeball) for placement and also the tag box Spawn points (nfo_player_combine_tagbox, info_player_rebel_tagbox) that must be installed in your map for the sake of competition mode. The Dodgeball.fgd can be found in the bin folder of the Alpha 4 release of Dodgeball for the Source Engine. This can be found here: http://www.dodgeball.xsystemmods.com You can also enter our downloads section and download the map titled CCC.vmf in order to see how to respawn Dodgeballs if that is necessary for your map design. We have a large community of mappers to help you out with any problems or questions you might have. These can be posted in our forums for a quick reply. Make sure to submit a zipped version of all maps and related textures on or before 5pm PST on the 2nd of September to xsystemmods@gmail.com.
So, the question is, what does the winner of this contest come away with? First, the winning map (or maps) will be included in the Alpha 5 release and subsequent releases of Dodgeball for the source engine. This means that you will have the opportunity to actually have your map published along with this popular full game conversion. Second, you will receive an official Dodgeball for the Source Engine Tshirt compliments of the Dodgeball Development team stating your acomplishment. You will also get added to the credits for the mod and have your map featured on the official Dodgeball website and servers. Runners up will have thier map made available for download on the Dodgeball website and it will be included in the Dodgeball game server. Let the games begin!!
In other news, the Dodgeball developers have been hard at work on Alpha 5! The most noteable change you will see is the absense of the memory error/crash that has plagued us since Alpha 3. The game can now be played for hours (we went for 4 straight) without a crash or any stability issues. Expect an updated version of competition mode and also some new maps (from the developers and also from the community). Expect Alpha 5 to be released in conjunction with the end of the map contest on the evening of September 2nd.
Hope to see you in the servers!
