Steam News: Friday, August 26 2005

Postby wiggle987 on Sat Aug 27, 2005 9:15 am

In this week's news Valve have told fans briefly about the new release of Half Life Blueshift on steam, and also another new screenshot of Day of Defeat: Source in action.

"Fans will remember that Blue Shift included a "High Definition Pack," a set of visually enhanced player and weapon models. We've had to iron out some technical wrinkles with how we deliver the HD Pack, but it will be made available through Steam within the next week or so."

You can read the rest of the update here or restart steam.

I think all of it looks pretty weird. From models to maps. Knowing Valve though, they'll improve the models and such over time with updates. When they know something doesn't feel right, they'll do something about it.

I love how much damage a knife/spade attack does in DOD, it actually gives those weapons a purpose other than to embarass someone.

If you don't like what something looks like, download a skin for it.

Still, they say as if its coming out soon. I suspect that Shadow is right, they will release it the way it is, then they will make more models and also add normal map. The reason it came out late was because their origial plan was to keep the HL1 version of the models and maps and make it in the HL2 engine (kinda like HL:S). But they switched to just making it a new HL2 game. Kinda like source.
