Look alive gentlemen, because Gabe Newell is one of the better game designers out there from which you can learn a whole lot. That goes for most of the Valve staff though, as Newell has become more of a publicity character. The face of Valve if you will.

Personally I can't imagine anyone else in my life that kept my head above water when I was a younger and a beginning designer. That guy can really open your eye's with all these theories that in the end, make perfect sense. Yet, you've never given them any thought before.
