Valve has recently released a Steam update, as usual restart steam to receieve it. The difference about this update though is that it's special, it's not designed to make your Half-Life 2 run faster nor is it designed to make Steam open that second quicker, this update changes the face of Steam. Valve have also stated that this is just the start in their Steam 3 project, there are plans to re-impliment the friends system so it actually has a point:
"These changes are part of a larger set of features (collectively known as Steam 3) which will be introduced over the course of the coming months. Today's release allows Steam to offer a larger and more varied collection of games to our customers, and introduces a-la-carte purchases."
Sounds like we're in for the year of the Steam revolution.
