Postby Blink on Sat Oct 22, 2005 12:12 pm

The Natural Selection site has been down long enough for it to almost die away, but yesterday some more news came our way:

"In the meantime, big changes are afoot with NS:Source. It looks like a whole lot more work than even we anticipated and so we're rethinking things. With our two big "competitors" (Counter-strike and Day of Defeat) both having a full-time professional team making them, we have a lot we're up against. Of course, those two projects also got access to Half-life II before it was released. When it comes down to it, "porting" NS to Half-life II is really more of a rewrite, with all the art and levels being redone. We expect a lot of the code and game design to remain intact, but there are even chunks there that will need to be recreated. We're currently trying to figure out a way we can get a top-quality NS:Source done in a reasonable amount of time with no funding. We're talking to publishers and investors without a lot of luck yet. Anyone have any other ideas?"

Hopefully the site and more news will be coming our way very soon, to read the full update have a look at the NS site.

If that's true, then imo the ns team are dumb. It's like having a lottery ticket that's won $25 but you don't know it yet and some guy gives you $50 for it.

Have you played it? It's easily the best or 2nd best hl1 mod, and if it goes to source... well let's just say that's good :)

Then you didn't remember right. NS is for people with actual brains and is as far away from CS as you can get, which is why stupid people people can't work the game out and that makes it so good.

I know it may sound stupid but...

Some people believe Movement chambers are better than Defense chambers at start, I always remember Defense Chambers being the best things to start off with, thats what was always said during the first versions of the game. Which comes to the point Why would movement chambers be helpful of you only had 1 hive? i mean, its mostly used for traveling to other hives rather than the one you start at, so how could it be helpfull at all? Am I the only one who recalls that DCs were always better than MCs? (sorry, i cant rememberif its Movement Chambers or movement towers, the names confuse me because I havent played in a long long time but I think you guys get the idea...)
