I think the point about the FPS is that you simply can't expect it to have high FPS in something like this. The complexity of the level alone is significant (probably more so than most regular HL2 levels) and when you add the whole HDR thing to that, Frame rates -will- be lower than what you're used to. But it's not like they're going to waste. This is a beautiful and complex level with particularly graphics-intensive visuals.
Now, I see what you mean about some of the other complaints, (though I didn't see any mismatched displacements within the regular playing area? could you direct me to them?) but for me at least, they were not significant enough to detract from the overall playing experience. The only -really- obvious one was the strange posed-combine bug. I'm not sure but I have a sneaking suspicion this could have something to do with system resources, specifically RAM... anyone with a bucketload of RAM like to confirm whether or not they have this problem?

I was able to run it fine on High settings with full HDR. I have a gig of RAM and I still noticed the Combine bug. However I only seen it once after I died and the game reloaded with the two Combine soldiers in their funny pose ven though there was no enemies yet.
Their first album was better.

when you are at the top of the mountain thing (with the walls and arches) look at the town. youll notice a few things:

-houses are crap, three brushes for each house, wtf?
-disps behind the town is practically square?
When you are up to your neck in shit, keep your head up high

Did notice the background village was a little crude, but you can tell from the fps on a top end machine that no PC could handle anything much more detailed. The reflections and refractions on the water with hdr blow my mind. The reflection of light on the sand, and the light through the stain glass windows just look so real. Its actually better than most full video opening sequences. Awesome.

Really love the commentary too. Helps in understanding what HDR actually does.
