Chances are if you're a human being living in a modernized country... you've been to a concert or two. Got any sweet stories or silly experiences to share???
I've got a few. The first was when I went to see Medeski Martin and Wood in my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas. It also happened to be 4/20. Now I'm not really a pot smoker at all and I wasn't planning on smoking at all but seeing as Lawrence is the pot capital of Kansas it's pretty hard to avoid on 4/20... when Medeski Martin and Wood is playing. As soon as the band started playing and the lights went down nearly every other person crouched over, pulled out a pipe and proceeded to hotbox the entire concert hall. I never even purposefully smoked but by the end of the night I was definitely feeling the effects, and I think the band might have as well because their playing got a little loose if you know what I mean.
Second story is a recent one... last saturday my university put on a free concert for students called Day On The Hill. It was an all day showcase of pretty much local bands with a well known indie band called Spoon headlining. I didn't even know about Spoon a year ago but stumbled upon them randomly searching for Medeski Martin and Wood on Itunes and seeing "Users who listened to MMW also listened to Spoon". Anyhow last saturday me and a friend had a lot of captain in us and we were jamming out to Spoon while the hippies stood still and did their little... stand still while dancing thing. (Lawrence is infamous for being the most apathetic town when it comes to music... we really get into it mentally but most of us refuse to show enjoyement) The show ends and we notice that the barricade definitely doesnt barricade the way around to the back of the stage. We looked around to see if security was going to jump on us but there was no security to speak of and we waltzed back to the rear of the stage and happened to find Britt Daniels the lead singer of Spoon in the flesh. After a quick convo about how the show went he signed our ticket stubs and even posed for a picture. How many people can say the front man of their favorite band (favorite band that is still touring and under the age of 60...) stopped to have a conversation about music with you??? It was pretty freaking sweet.
