some shots of the 3 textures (I've added a wall texture as well) in game. I agree that the wood wasn't so good, and it's still not quite perfect/appropriate, but man does the wall look crazy in game. I've fallen for normal maps.

Finished a clean wood floor and plaster wall

Edit: Two Variations, I also toned down the reflectiveness of the wood.

I am just learning to create textures, I started seriously yesterday ... those are my first results, following some nice tutorials:

Nothing amazing, I think, though the concrete texture can be used quite good ... I will further force my way through tutorials ... progress on my map is slow at the moment because I decided to make a whole new set of textures on my own. Want to make at least most of the content of the map really mine hehe. Will need time, though

Your first tries are definitely better than mine were, it was polka dot mania in there!

I'm also trying to learn, and making a whole new set for my current map. These are for a sci-fi-industrial-grunge metal refinery set on an alien world. I'll just show a couple for now..

I could really use some tips on making them not be so bad! And an idea for the blue and gray sections on the trim sheet would be sweet too.

Trying to get a "Halo" themed floor.

Here's my very first try on something that belongs on "textures" group:

I know that it isn't that good, but everyone starts from somewhere! :D

Comments and maybe feedback?

very nice, you have nailed a good pattern. But its too clean and cartoonish. you should add some grunge and/or maybe marble it? The normal and sepc will take this one out.
You click on Build or type

I made a wall texture. A remake of HL1 texture. What can I do to make the 'screwed' area part look more standout?

Heh.. It has to be clean, because I'm making it for my mall map and there should be clean floors. ;) I think I make another one better tomorrow. :)

Does the parallax feature work? I want to try that out.

I don't think Source can do parallax maps yet, although I'd be tickled pink (err... orange?) to be proven wrong.

It works on Source if you use a littlebit coding. I read it on hl2wikipedia/valveDEV wiki. Here's the link:
