I can instantly recognize most of those textures from cgtextures.com.

I think your maps looks pretty good but maybe you could start to stray away from the HL2 theme and create some more interesting maps from a style point-of-view. Then you'll turn even more heads! ;)

While your levels obviously show a keen eye for detail and knowledge of the tool at hand, I'm slightly worried about how your levels would actually play as it seems you haven't really thought about gameplay when creating these levels.

Updated my portfolio with shots from my first DS project, de_urbanwarfare.

Kester: Thanks, the levels I have released (most notably zm_ancient) did have quite a few major issues in the early betas, but with the final release, it turned out quite well. But since most of my energy is focused with SP modding, the final result is still awhile away. But again thanks for the concern.

The brushwork is nice. The lighting could use some contrasting . Add some yellow lights in there and possibly some more details on the floor near the buildings and stuff. Props and stuff :) make it look a bit more populated :)

Short synopsis, it went well.

I am appalled that you people would make your textures using an internet site :?

Also, I'm great at creating textures from scratch. You want me to make a tut or help you?

Using photos gives that realistic look that is needed for textures. Its hard to make it by hand.

You'd be suprised. Hell, alot of companies even farm out work or buy DVD's of props and textures.

Some of the stuff in GoW I know for sure was made by a company in the netherlands.

There was a farce awhile back with an HL2 du/dv map found in stalker and some doom3 lights as well, turns out that they had all used some stuff from asset dvds and had happened to have used a few of the same textures.
