I can't be bothered to list all the films I love - because I'm destined to miss out some - so I'll just mention a few which are having a really strong effect on my art at the moment.

Blade Runner and pretty much all of Tarkovksy's films. That is all.

Dunno about you guys but I actually liked the film adaptation of The Odyssey that came out in 1997. I think it airs on Scifi every now and then. Warner Bros. are also apparently making a new movie for it. I hope they don't kill any of the mythological aspects, because I love mythology.

I saw Clash of the Titans a couple days ago (in 3D, which killed the clarity and the glasses made the colors bleak). Aside from the rushiness of the plot, it was an epic movie and a welcomed remake of the 1981 original.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but Water World was a great movie. It had somewhat negative reviews but I found it to be an interesting and original film.

Also, Event Horizon and The Sphere are two great scifi movies. Pandorum wasn't bad but some of the acting was meh and it was a little generic, but the ending was incredibly epic.

I generally agree with:

Coen Bros > Everything Else

The only movie they did that I can think of which got bad press was Burn After Reading, and apparently its because it wasnt AS good as the other Coen movies are (I didnt see it). That and Ladykillers wasn't too hot, but every other movie they made was a masterpiece.
