Re: marks - prop/environment artist

Yeah I think it is mainly the metal on the ak that puts me off. Also the wood could do with some more contrast maybe a bit more colour as well.

Good luck with contagion should give you a load of good assets to show off (if you are taking more environment work).

For me, the AK wood could be a tad more saturated or brighter and as you say I too agree the metal lacks definition and has this...painted charm to it.

In other words, it looks like a game weapon, a little too much like a game weapon and I think it's the way you made your metal. Honestly I think it needs more shine or something.

Oh yeah and that wall pic has always bothered me. Anyone can do that and as Surfa said, use it in a scene with other textures or use it with some props in front.

thanks, definitely some good feedback here I appreciate it. My current plans for the shitty brick texture is to use that page as like, a whole page of map textures. I just need to actually make some first, I will try to bash some out over lunch for a while (if anybody needs anything, hit me up). The AK I'm not massively happy with either, I guess its kinda filler content. Which means it shouldnt be there. It just feels weird having very little work on there, regardless of the quality. I dont know really.

Looking good. By the way, on the first page you asked me what my.php was. I can only assume you were using imageshack at the time and back then people who used the my.php link that imageshack gave you annoyed me as it contained adverts. Thought you wanted to know.

Anyway I really like your work. You have a good eye for texture detail and I must know where you learnt such skills.

I'd remove your map until it's more developed mate. It stands out too much next to your a+ models.

With the modular props, something feels missing on the pipe model in general. It's either that the red paint chipping is almost overdone or that the metal texture is lacking a strong specular or good gloss map. Otherwise, looks great.
