IGN Portal 2 Preview

Postby Blink on Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:52 am

Over at IGN they've posted a small preview of Portal 2 in the opening sequence:

So what exactly has changed in the sequel? Valve's added in plenty of toys to help you solve puzzles, including spreadable globs of bouncy goo and jump pads and light bridges and more. But what really stands out is the sound.

There's also some other snippets of info, plus a short gameplay video. Give it a read.

Oh god, I've been having Portal Attacks the last few days...

Dreams about Portals, sudden urges to rewatch the gameplay mechanics on steam, activating my Windows 7 Portal 2 Desktop theme again....

APRIL IS TOO FAR AWAY!!!

I thought I was going insane but it seems i'm not the only one who does that. Except with me it's been since the first trailer was released in Augest 2010.

I am really looking forward to it. Though the shadows don't all that great, I think the only thing they did was make a faster system for projectedtextures so they could use a higher resolution, but still, looks great.

Well knowing Valve it will be backwards "runnable" by older hardware, We could assume that might mean more optimized lighting?

Although recently they have been advancing more.

Older hardware? I remember back when I used a on-board GPU, it was like a Nv 6-something. The second I turned on the flashlight, my framerate dropped to 5.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

I know that part of the clip is old, but i really hope they remember to turn on "Receive projected texture" on the portal gun. Because it just breaks the immersion atm.
That's what she said.

If they don't we'll just inundate them with hate-mail asking them to fix it.
