Duplicating a model

Postby pk_hunter on Sat Aug 13, 2011 4:40 pm

Hey 'lopers,

would one of you very kind and knowledgeable folk be able to tell me how I would go about duplicating an NPC model (Breen) for the purposes of re-skinning and including in a map (not a mod) as a new character.
I can't just re-skin Breen because I don't want peoples' ep2 actually being affected, so I want a new version of the model.

Does that make sense?

Thanks in advance <3

What Jang said. Then you can also add animations($includemodel).

But, to change the materials it uses you might have to edit it in HEX or notepad++

Decompile the model and in the QC redirect your texture to another folde and name the model something else and compile the qc with guistudiomdl!

Just hex it. That'll prevent any override of the standard model and texture.

This should explain everything you need http://www.facepunch.com/threads/395931 ... p-tutorial.

If you want to duplicate a model, but change the texture for the other, you could try out this tool from http://www.facepunch.com/threads/111230 ... -textures!.
It should do all the hard work for you.
