So, why is Steam more expensive than retail?

Steam is definitely cheaper than buying retail, at least in the US. There's never any tax when purchasing on Steam and Steam has really awesome seasonal and holiday sales.

I don't know shit about economics so I couldn't say why it's so expensive in Europe. It really is unfortunate though.
