It makes a good point rather than just stating some of the obvious crappy games.

Remove the '%253Fcmpid%253Dsn-110418-facebook-28-fbfantrack' part of the URL. It appears that it was a copy/pasta link from someone's FaceBook news feed. Tis an interesting read, and I'm more than a bit curious how Homefront 2 pans out. I reasonably enjoyed the first one, though it was painfully obvious that it was meant to be part of a series.

I believe that the key to a good game is immense originality. Be it gameplay wise, storyline wise, aesthetics wise, etc. For example, Bioshock was an awesome game because it had original gameplay, story and aesthetics. :smt023

But it didn't, really. It had light RPG mechanics in terms of the inventory system. It had audio tapes spread out to set the mood and tell the story, and this isn't all too original either. The art style was somewhat interesting and made for pretty awesome scenes, but it wasn't all that amazingly original.

Bioshock borrowed a lot of concepts from System Shock 2, did it not? I mean, it was made by the same developers and they even said so themselves it was the spiritual successor to System Shock 2.

Bioshock was a great game, but I don't think that was due to the gameplay alone. It had an original setting (for a video game) and a unique take on civilization. Plasmids were really cool as well, but I don't know if they were "original." I mean, genetic modification has been explored extensively in the science fiction genre.

Anyway, good read. But I mean...it's nothing we don't already know honestly.

Bioshock pales compared to system shock 2

By 'original gameplay' I was refering to the plasmids.

That is . . . . hand down . . . . the best level of that game.

I have to agree, honestly. I love both games, but System Shock 2 was a lot more fun, and way creepier. Every enemy I came across would frighten me for some reason, even the stupid security drones.

You'd just be prancing around a corridor then turn the corner and run in to something and be like "SHIT!"

It also disproved the originality of plasmids.
