Changing Citizen models, help!

Postby GigaNova on Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:29 pm

Hey, its me again.
I wanted to make something, something pretty simple.
Just replace Male01 with a model of kleiner.

My first try was: Edit the .fgd to make hammer load the kleiner.mdl as a citizen.
Result: HL2.exe stopped working.

So, i decompiled both Kleiner and Male01, but after recompilling it with Kleiner as reference model, it still crashes (HL2.exe stopped working) on loading the map!

Can anybody please help me how to fix this or how to do this cause i realy need it.

Are you just adding Kleiner for the Male01 bones? Or is there another reason. If it's for the bones only I do believe Major Banter wrote a tutorial about putting the civilian on zombie bones, I'm sure it would work the same way but I can't seem to find it.

Strictly speaking it was Phoenix, my old coder.

This is the tutorial. It shouldn't take too much skill to follow the general guidelines.

Nvm guys, de-selecting "use random head" in Hammer fixed my problem.

When I read back that tutorial... well, it works, but it was quite a work-around. I remember someone here telling me this could be easier done by just recompiling the model with the other models .qc file. If it's a humanoid, the bones are probably the same.

That's basically what I did in the tutorial, but rather unexperienced and more difficult than needed.
