Texture Alignment on Beveled Edges

This tutorial will show you a quick and dirty method to getting your textures to align proper on a beveled edge.

Let's start off by taking a look at our edge. As you can see here we have square brush with a 45 degree angle cut on one corner. You can also see that the texture is not aligned as it should be.

Start off by creating a camera in the 2D views and align it on the grid so that it faces directly at the wall.

Then open the "Face Edit Sheet" window using the Texture Edit tool. Change the texture mode to "Align to View". What this does is it aligns a texture according to the camera's view. Now click on the side directly facing the camera and the 45 degree cut. They should now be aligned together.

Now switch the camera so that it is facing directly to the side that is 90 degrees to the previous side your camera was facing, and is next to the beveled edge. Click on this face so that is aligns the texture to the camera's view.

Now switch the texture mode back to "Lift+Select" and select the two previous faces. Check the little box that says "Treat as One". This will treat the two faces as if they were one. Now hit the "R" button in the Justify section. This will align the texture to the right side of the face.

Then select the one face next to them and hit the "L" button. This will align the texture to the left side. Make sure that the "Y" axis of the texture for all 3 faces is the same. You could select all faces and hit "B" for Bottom or "T" for Top. You can also be more precise by manually adjusting the digits in the Y axis of the Texture Shift box.

Tada! Your done and you have a nice edge to show off.
