description
The first part in creating a table, this covers the basic construction.

keywords
model, models, modelling, table.

Ok welcome to my tutorial on modelling a simple lowpoly table in 3dsmax. Whilst this tutorial is aimed mostly at max users it should be quite easy to adapt it over to any other 3D package.

Nice tut.

I dunno if you were gonna get to this bit, but it's a good idea to delete any non-visible faces - for example, deleting the 'caps' on the top of the table legs will save you quite a few faces, as will deleting the ends of the horizontal supports.

It was earth all along

Gmax, just like 3dsmax, and most of the time you can just follow 3dsmax tuts, and its the same.

Bearshare gives you no end of spyware!

Anyway, if you want to download the trial of 3dsmax (if thats what you mean)

Try google. I searched download 3ds max and got a lot of results.

yea i know about the spyware...thats why I hate bearshare with a passion..but its one of the faster P2P programs...at least that i know of. But yea..I looked on google and could't find anything at all. Just info about it. But I looked for the demo on some downloaders... and I ended up with the full version somehow...

[Edit] Is there a plugin you need to export it as a .mdl for CS:S? If so can someone find me a link please? And also..can someone tell me a good model painting program? lol..Sorry about so many questions.

Im not sure how boolean works in max , but i know in maya if u boolean union objects together, it gets rid of the intersecting faces.

Would that work well in this situation? booleaning together the legs to the table top?

You can boolean them if you want but it might cause errors with people who don't have very good vid cards where they can see inside the model. I just let the faces intersect slightly. it doesn't increase the polycount so no harm :).

Also stay tuned for the next part. It was done but i have been working on a different technique which is a lot better so im rewriting the UVW mapping tutorial.
