Those screenshots are so amazing...but... the sky looks so cartoony. it just doesn't fit with the (very) realistic look of the world.
It's quite simple really. I want to be a professional level designer. I want this to be my job.

pretty much dicks on anything i've seen in a long time

one thing i would suggest for gameplay-purposes is to reduce the brightness of ambient light so that you get more contrast and darker places for special infected to hide

Joe, I know someone mentioned this earlier in this thread, but I'll say it again: Those screenshots doesn't look just good. THEY LOOK FUCKING PHOTO REALISTIC. Pic 3 and 4 in particular. Seriosuly, at first glance, you don't know whether you're looking at a screenshot or a photograph. That's damn impressive, to say at least.

thanks for the complements guys, so noone notice I got detail sprites to appear in L4D? Not that its technically hard or anything, just saves alot of hammer time. I have so far used no refernce photos to make this scene save the first three buildings to appear in here, which i then ghettofied. As far as everything else goes, its off the top of my head.
@ ThePain, heres my light_env settings ripped straight from the VDC

sky name
militia_hdr

Sun Angle
0 298 0

Sun Pitch
-60

Brightness
235 222 177 600

Ambience
75 92 118 400

And no I haven't spent countless hours on this, in fact it's rather hard to find time to work on this. lol

Did you take the pictures for the textures? Or where did you find them? Obviously without these amazing textures it wouldn't look AS good, ( not offense ), but seriously, how did you get these amazing textures? They look so lifelike.

actually the only custom textures are a couple of road signs, the highway sign, and the stripes on the road. The rest is what L4D shipped with. Oh yeah and the sky which i made with VUE

Yeah, it looks awesome, but if you turn off the grain it will look even more awesome.
