I casually forget about visiting the site for a week, to return to a flop of a map battle. Damn :(

I expected to come back to an abundance of nearly finished maps! What a shame.

Actually I dropped out Tic.

I've decided I'm not going to enter this. No one else is entering and it seems like it's just me documenting the art creation for Pipe Dream.


Anyway, Pipe Dream is going under a complete overhaul. The current art tests aren't that great and weren't planned out well. Me and Mr2 will be spending a few weeks gathering references for the art, refining the puzzle elements and building some test maps. In a few months I'll be back here with the first media release for Pipe Dream to show you guys the new art direction and share some insight into the puzzle aspects of the mod. Thanks for the support.

I think it's a case of it being a busy time of year, it is for me at least.
In any case, here's how far I got - haven't had time to touch it in the last couple of weeks and won't get a chance to before the end of the competition. I'm not too happy with it anyway, and would've needed to make/redo a couple more textures.. was sort of making it up as I went along anyhow.

what fog settings you have on that? distant/density wise? looks nice and moody lighting wise, but could definitely benefit from more detail for the geometry. A pity you can't finish it.

Cheers. The fog is at a distance of 200-3000, density set at 0.5.

Yeah, the geometry is where I need to really improve; I'm too easily tempted to set up some lighting and textures before I've even planned the shape of the map. I was going for a sort of ritualistic, sacrificial feel to the map, hence the heavy color correction.

Guys, I suggest you post whatever you have by the deadline, no matter how bad it is, because else it's just stupid and a waste of time.
