Definately doing this

It's been done loads of times before. Pick something more challenging.

I think I'll go for something gameplay-oriented.

Why the fuck are people suddenly saying "I'm going to make something people can play!" Map battles are pictures only and we just had a gameplay battle that died...

I'm thoroughly recommending people take note of this: this battle is entirely about visuals. Not gameplay. Videos can be posted but will not be part of the final voting process. If this battle has inspired you, awesome - but consider which aspect you're gunning for, gameplay and visuals even without the limit of a 1024 cube is an incredibly hard balance to make.

Unless of course you're going to make something very pretty and make it playable later - which is perfectly feasible.

Just strike the balance right.

I'm loving that floor, cori :D do you have a brush there for the glass floor already, or are the stools floating?

there's no limitation on custom content, models, textures, etc, correct? I'm thinking about modelling a large portion of my scene

That wasn't aimed completely at you. I've seen a few people saying they'll make gameplay scenes and Chop even said having gameplay in it will boost the chance that he'll vote for you. Just focus on the visuals. Gameplay shouldn't have anything to do with these battles.

Lovely stuff Corson. Only thing I could suggest so far is possibly making the glass parts under the stools a refracted/reflective texture, to give it some more solidity, as they look like they standing on air, if ya know what I mean :P

QFT

Also, I will be apart of this map battle. I need a break from working on this TF2 map that is going nowhere! (I cannot make particle effects...) I'll probably have screen shots in the next couple of days. I finished my custom textures but still need to do the custom models D:

Figure this is as good a reason as any for my first post on Interlopers, so some WiP shots from what I'm working on for this.
