Special Membership

Postby Surfa on Mon Sep 15, 2008 5:31 pm

Special Membership is used on a few site not sure if their is a phpbb plugin for it but, basically you have a system in which you pay to become a special rank, and you get certain privileges the main one i thought of was getting rid of the ads because tbh i never click them anyway and I would rather pay a small sum a month or year to get rid of them (cause they are dam annoying). Is this something you would considered doing?

The site has become difficult to afford, so ads are here to stay.

For those that have, thanks for blocking them and showing your support.

Hell, I'd do it. Especially if it got Blink to like me a little more.

I don't see the point, not everyones got the money to waste away on a special membership, I don't see why people should be able to pay for extra privelleges. I think it's fine how it is all on an equal playing field bar those who have been awarded higher status by merit. If ads annoy you - block them.

I've got ad block plus, Interlopers is one of the few sites that I have display the ads. They're not intrusive, loud or irritating so no problem there. And it generates that bit of extra income needed to keep this site going.
BTW: There's a donation button on the main page.

Tad rude and intrusive here (or is it? Social thingy-mahoos regarding money have never made too much sense to me), but can you ball-park the figure?

And as Mess has asked, is it by click or...?

Clicks help, but please don't spam them as it makes Google mad. And hosting is about £100 a month at the moment. It fluctuates because I host it in the US and obviously there is a conversion, but the UK is basically as fucked as Africa when it comes to economy at the moment so it's worse.

I honestly do appreciate those that support the site, even by leaving the ads visible. I've tried to run the place without forum ads for as long as possible.

Cheers.

If having ads keeps this site up, then place as many as you need! :D You've done and are still doing a great job with Interlopers.net Blink and cheers to ya! :)

Have you considered a donate to interlopers thing? Maybe use any excess resources to fund a game server if there are any to fund a game server?

Some of us would be willing to chip a few each month to help keep our favorite site going.

Although it doesn't stand out so it is easy to miss.
