Creative Says Custom Drivers Are "Stealing," Gets Rocked by Protests

you got to read the article, Creative just killed its dedicated fanbase. Legally Creative isn't doing anything wrong, but it's more of a moral question.

What i thought was a very bold movement by Creative (and will get back to hunt them one day) is that they publically announced that on their forums as a message to Daniel_K. If they were smart they would have emailed him. Now the shit hitted the fan, and it didn't turn out great for Creative at all.

quite simply, not enabling new functions on older hardware forces people to buy newer hardware. Profit, aye.

I abandoned Creative about 6 years ago, but this is a boneheaded move, even for them.

He he, yeah that's what I was thinking. Seriously, Newegg wouldn't announce that news there, and they have really absolutely no reason to take any action of that sort anyway. Hardly any business is concientious towards their customers these days, especially one as big as them.

That can be said for Creative as well. While they certainly shouldn't have said what they did publicly, their methods are not exactly unheard of.

Creative has changed their mind and is now allowing Daniel_k to continue his work.

The biggest give away from the newegg thing is the over the top formal writing. Also known as the "Incorrect formal writing"

I didn't expect this news will spread here this fast, but of course

Pathetic Customer Support+Pathetic Driver Support+High Profile Product = FAIL

If they were smart they would have emailed him.

Or hired him just like the guys at OCN said :?
