I think parts of that article are very opinionated and from my perspective, quite patently wrong. A lot of good points are made though.

A large, loud portion of the public will openly hate you regardless of what you do. Learn to live with it.

This guy evidently was pretty misinformed about what to expect for himself. Also that he never worked for Valve.

Even though I wanna go Indie, making a infinite scale RPG is not my first choice of realistic games to build. Still some good advice, but I still say Hourences gives a better listing of this stuff in the Hows and Whys of the Game Industry...

Really good book that covers this same subject in a much more complete scale. Tells you what you are getting yourself into and what to prepare for. Totally worth the money for me.

I'm a computer engineer but I only code games for fun/hobby. It's not an easy industry and it's a good thing to separate fun from work. You'll get tired of playing games when you're coding them all the time.
