I've been to russia once, it has many good places that could be transformed into maps. I saw this interesting facility there, but I got stopped by guard when I tried to look at it more closely. Still no clue what it was the guide didn't tell me either. Maybe someday I'll go back to Moskow with my own private army :P

Too bad it does, some ppl don't have lag with water levels though..what actually makes water lag? Beside the fact that it's water..and that water makes lag. (I'd like some clearer explanation)

hmm I'm not all into the concepts of that.. actually I need some good documentation explaining all of that, any1 knows? I'd be gratefull ^^ I might put your Interlopers nick in a decal then mirror and and reverse it, cut it in half and put it on one of the walls you can't see in my level. Isn't that a honor? No seriously I need these things explained :) And I'd really be gratefull :)

Because the water has its own properties that must be constantly caculated in real time by the engine. Just like the physics. That's why you get lag around a lot of water.

That's as good an explanation as I can give.

As I said some ppl have lag when near water, I have never had this problem or whatever you want to call it before, but if I say that to Athlete he starts mumbling about a magical steam engine I'm supposed to have :P

my guess is water makes shit lag because if you have a bunch of ragdolls in there, they have to float about whilst running into shit, which means alot of physics crap that has to be sent and recieved. ive had a 2 on 2 on a map where the whole floor was water, and it did start lagging when there was a few bodies and guns, etc floating around.

getting back on topic, how about a theatre?

Postby Vikingtim on Fri Jan 28, 2005 4:44 pm

I though of this while I was sitting atop the porcelain throne this afternoon. I didn't download too many maps for CS before, did anyone do a theatre, or are there too many textures that would be needed?

You know, something where they might show Phantom of the Opera. All those backstage areas, props, balconies, boxes, the sweet counter...

and a couple of hostages to give it some purpose.
