Suggestions for a monitor

Postby Ethako on Sun Feb 22, 2009 12:39 pm

I just bought i pretty expensive computer and i need a nice fast monitor to go with it i no nothing about monitor specs so i was hoping someone with more experience/knowledge could help me,

i have a:
i7 extreme
nivida 295 gtx
corsair 3x 2gb of ddr3 ram
asus rampage extreme 2 MB
westerdigital 7200rpm 1tb

my monitor is old; so according to some friends of my family and a few other forums i need a faster monitor to keep up; even if not, i still want to get a good fast GAMING monitor that is under 500 preferable under 400...

I'd buy that one too, I'm saving up for exactly the same screen, it's big enough, and doesn't cost much for the quality it offers!

Laugh out loud! I was going to suggest the same screen. I'm using it right now tbh.

The contrast ratio is fake, since its dynamic. As far as I know its still a lottery whether you get a regular TFT panel or something better. The screen, over all, is still good though.

Yep, I've got one here. Although mine is only 20" and has 2ms response. It's model T200 is anyone's interested.

Response time: The minimum time necessary to change a pixel's color or brightness. Response time is also divided into rise and fall time. For LCD Monitors, this is measured in btb (black to black) or gtg (gray to gray). These different types of measurements make comparison difficult. A response time of <16ms is sufficient for video-gaming[1], and the difference between response times once they're below 10ms begin becoming imperceptible due to limitations of the human eye [2] [3]

In other words, the lower the response time, the better. But once it gets under 10ms, it doesn't make a huge difference.

I advise getting the 2232BW if u can find it. It was rated the best monitor a few years back.
2ms - not sure on the contrast ratio. (Added specs and review below)

I read 5 reviews before I bought it, I didnt need to read anymore. The worst thing they could come up with was "Because of its shiny finish it attracts dust.............."

Its better looking than the 2233 aswell imo - I dont like the plastic at the bottom, is that see through clear plastic?

(Just a googled picture)
Image

Random googled review

22in flat-panel
native resolution 1,680x1,050
0.282mm pixel pitch;
2ms response time
1,000:1/3,000:1 contrast ratio
170/170 degree viewing angle
brightness 300cd/m2
DVI-D connector
517x210x419mm
5kg

Hope this helps
