...Is the man.

He was so true of heart, so harsh of tongue...His written stuff is really good. He was great in interviews too.

The freebird video is brilliant. His little skit on the state of modern music is brilliant too, it's become something of a personal mantra. Love the guy.

Well, it is something you hear from a comedian. Bill Hicks is a comedian and he pretty much said that, so if you were listening you would have heard it from a comedian.

Saying that, there is a kind of tongue-in-cheek nature to his ranting. He doesn't genuinely want that to happen, just as he doesn't genuinely want to watch 14 year old girls engaging sexual acts. It's a social commentary.

Bill Hicks represents pure, unbridaled rage at the opression of modern capitalist culture. He gives voice to the rage that so many of us hold inside and lets it run free, he takes it to its natural conclusion and in so doing he parodies it. That is the beauty of Bill Hicks.
