Well in Estonia we have silly laws. Our court system seems to work FOR the criminals: criminals get months or a couple of years for doing something so there's no fear of law, and a couple of years ago there was a case where a burglar entered a house through the skylight, lost his footing and fell on a kitchen knife set. He then sued the houseowner for ATTACKING HIM and the burglar won.
I think the laws in Estonia need to bit a tad bit rougher, eh? So I support guns. At least makes you feel a bit safer in your own home. Oh and shooting for defense = manslaughter. If the cops happen to shoot for defense a good couple of YEARS of bureaucracy follow; which is the reason they don't.
Sure from one side I could see the escalation of force, yet from the other side I support personal capital punishment. Err... self-defense.

You just don't get it Florence.

There is no place for guns within society.

I'm not going to make full comment on this until I know the full story. But I will say that your reaction to this is an example of the kind of twitch-reactions that prevent us from dealing with the underlying problems in society. We don't even know what kind of firearm was used and yet you immediately point the blame at guns, claiming that this is insurmountable proof that there should be no guns anywhere. Can we please leave this for a while until the facts become apparent, right now we'd just be debating at eachother from platforms of hot air.

So the police shouldn't be able to carry firearms, or should only the super-trustworthy government, with their track-record of illegal wars and murder, get access? What about hunters or people that own land and need them for pest control? If I go and stab ten people with a sharp point do we all have to start using safety scissors?
