Implementing Alien Swarm's particle system into an EP2 mod?

Alien Swarm features a few new types of particle renderers, including "render_blobs" - which is equivalent to Portal 2's new "liquids". Does Valve provide the code for these particle renderers, and if they do, could it be ported into an Episode 2 mod?

Particle system code is and always has been closed source.

You could always port your mod to the AS codebase. Though I doubt it would be worth it.
